Two tennis clinics will be held this month in conjunction with "Play Tennis America" at the Asbury College tennis courts behind the Luce Physical Activities Center. Tennis instructor, Dan Jernigan, will be holding two Level One clinics and one Level Two clinic.
Level One is designed to provide basic skills needed to play tennis. Participants are taught the philosophy and methods of the tennis game. The goal of each lesson segment is to introduce one or more of the skills necessary to play tennis. This class will familiarize players of all ages to the various strokes that are involved in the game of tennis. The times for Level One clinics will be: July 14-18 8:00 - 9:45 a.m.
The Level Two clinic is an intermediate follow-up to the instructional components of Level One. Participants play with different partners and opponents in round robin doubles, with review and ongoing instruction. The goal of beginning players is to get to the point where they can comfortably play a game of tennis. The best way to achieve this is through continued skill development coupled with actual match experience. The Level Two clinic will be held July 21 - 25, Monday through Friday, from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m.
The cost of the Level One clinic will be $55.00 and this includes a junior racquet. The cost of the Level Two clinic is $45.00.
"Play Tennis America" is sponsored by the United States Tennis Association with the goal of getting young people involved with the game of tennis.
