At 21 years of age, Johnny Adams has been a member of our department for three years. In that time he has accomplished a high level of training. Johnny is a state certified EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) and has a state certificate for the required hours in fire training at the volunteer level. He also attends fire schools regularly to keep his skills sharp.
Johnny goes out of his way to help in any situation he observes, such as stranded motorists or accidents. Before he officially joined our department, Johnny helped us at each scene by setting up and bringing us the needed equipment for each job. It is his attitude of doing more than is expected that makes him such an asset to the department and the City of Wilmore.
Johnny is in the process of testing to be a full time paid fireman. Meanwhile, he works cleaning carpets and other floor coverings. When he is not working he enjoys being with friends, watching the new hockey team in Lexington, and fishing.
Because his father was a fireman in Wilmore, Johnny was brought up knowing what to do at a fire. Although he is our youngest fireman, his ability is beyond his years because of all the time he spent helping in whatever way he could before he actually became a member of the department.
