Potential Development
Two proposed residential developments are likely to be considered by the Wilmore City Council within the next two months.
Plans submitted by the Woodspointe Development Corporation were approved by the Jessamine County-Wilmore Joint Planning Commission in August. These plans include two tracts of land.
One tract extends from the north end of the Butler Subdivision to Jessamine Station Road. This tract contains 10.13 acres which will be divided into 30 single family residential lots of 10,000 square feet or more. Each home built will contain a minimum of 1500 square feet. The plan calls for the extension of Butler Boulevard to Jessamine Station Road.
This land was zoned for residential use about 20 years ago, so no further plan approval is required from the City Council. The Planning Commission must approve construction plans and final plat before the development can take place.
Woodspointe Development has also requested a change from an agricultural zone to a residential zone (R-1) for 7.81 acres. This development will contain 24 single family homes and will provide connections for Wise Drive and East Margaret Street as well as contributing land for a "tot lot" to be built in the neighborhood. The developers have agreed that the homes built in this area will be restricted to the following minimum sizes:
|
7 homes |
1200 square feet minimum |
|
11 homes |
1350 square feet minimum |
|
6 homes |
1500 square feet minimum |
Hal Snowden, Jr., of Roseglade Farm has submitted a development plan to the Planning Commission with a request to change his 175-acre farm from an agricultural zone to an R-5 rural transitional zone. This request is on the agenda for the September 9 meeting of the Planning Commission. After the Planning Commission makes a recommendation regarding this request, the city council will decide whether or not to approve the requested change.
