The Bluegrass State Games were held July 18-20 and 25-27 in a statewide, Olympic-style sports festival. A part of the event, the girls 14 and under fast pitch competition, was held in Wilmore July 25-27 at both the city ball field and the Asbury College ball field. At the Shillito Park pool Wilmore artist, Kim Deyer, won an amazing SIX gold medals at the 13th Bluegrass State Games, in addition to breaking a record in the 50-meter backstroke event. Kim brought home gold medals in the 36-45 age group of the following swimming events:
For Kim, who worked with Wilmore's summer recreation program this summer, it was the first time to participate in the Bluegrass State Games.
Kim's artistic talent is displayed at 330 East Main Street Art. She is the mother of two sons, David, Jr., age 6, and Jackson, age 4.
