Community Service Center
Receives Donation Bin

J. D. Wilson, a member of Boy Scout Troop 55 in Wilmore, designed and built a donation bin for the Community Service Center of Wilmore-High Bridge. J.D., the son of John and Carol Wilson of Nicholasville, said this project will help him fulfill the requirements to become an Eagle Scout.

J.D. met with Betty Price, Director of the Community Service Center, in March to develop a project that would best benefit the community. The donation bin will serve to collect items brought to the Center during the hours it is not open for business. Previously items were usually placed outside the door where they were sometimes exposed to inclement weather. Often items became wet and not usable.

J.D. and about twenty troop members and leaders helped complete the project earlier this month. The donation bin is located on the side of Wilmore City Hall near the door to Attic Treasures (the thrift shop) and the Community Service Center. Please do not leave donations that will not fit in the box, such as furniture. Call the Center to arrange for these donations to be accepted.

Attic Treasures is open to the public on Tuesday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m.

The Community Service Center is open Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Thursday from 3 to 8 p.m.; and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. If you have questions, call the Center at 858-2819.

Betty Price and the Community Service Center would like to thank J.D. and Boy Scout Troop 55 for a great effort in constructing the much needed donation bin.
