July Is Parks and Recreation Month

Recognizing the Benefits of Parks and Recreation Participation

Whereas:

Parks and Recreation activities enhance the physical health and mental well-being of individuals, work forces and communities; and

Participation in recreation program builds self-esteem and provides positive and constructive alternatives to anti-social behavior; and

Parks and Recreation opportunities enhance the desirability of communities as locations for business, industry and residential housing; and

Parks and Recreation stimulates tourism revenues and the economic development of communities; and

Parks and open space are vital to the appearance and livability of our community; and

It is right that of everyone. regardless of age, race, color, religion gender, national origin or ability to participate to have access to recreation programs and activities;

Now, therefore, be it resolved that all citizens of Wilmore join with citizens of other communities throughout this great land in recognizing that parks and recreation services are essential to the quality of life.
