Mike started working for the Wilmore Police Department in August 1990. Before coming to Wilmore, he operated his own business called Dulin's Glass Mechanics in Versailles. From February 1980 to May 1989, Mike was employed as a police officer/firefighter with the Lexington Airport Police Department. While employed there he received four letters of commendation.
Mike grew up in the Lexington area. At the present time his father is a Captain with the Fayette County Sheriff's Department. Mike enlisted in the USAF in 1975 and was discharged in 1979.
Mike was promoted to Detective Sergeant in the Wilmore Police Department in October 1997. His responsibilities include handling major criminal investigations, supervising investigations for less experienced officers and reviewing open criminal reports.
In August 1993 Officer Dulin was awarded a life saving award for saving the life of a four year old boy who was injured in an automobile accident at the corner of Lexington and Main in April 1993. He saved the boy's life by giving mouth to mouth breaths for a period of approximately 20 minutes before the boy started breathing on his own.
That same year, Mike was awarded a Meritorious Medal for the apprehension of an armed robber at the Farmers Bank in Wilmore. In March a suspect entered the building in an attempt to rob the bank. Officer Dulin arrived quickly and apprehended the suspect without shots fired. That person was convicted and sent to prison.
In March 1996 Officer Dulin and another officer responded to a call of a person standing on the cliff at High Bridge. While that person was contemplating jumping, Officer Dulin and the other officer, with apparent risk to themselves, were able to remove the individual from the edge of the cliff. D/Sgt. Dulin has also received two additional Letters of Commendation. One was for quick action in solving a stolen vehicle case. Officer Dulin recovered the vehicle out of town and the suspects were arrested. The second was related to a series of business burglaries in Wilmore. After receiving a tip from the Nicholasville Police Department, Mike obtained a confession and the suspects were arrested for the crimes.
Mike is married to Karrie and they have an eight-year-old son, Kyle. The Dulins attend the Mt. Freedom Baptist Church in Wilmore.
