Valentine's Day reminds us that it is February. The column this month is about a family with warm hearts, hopeful wishes and answered prayers.

Michael Grout is the son of Pam and David Grout. He is in the third grade at Wilmore Elementary School. Michael enjoys soccer and swimming. He attends the Wilmore After School Recreation program and last month went with a group of friends to play Laser Quest in Lexington.

The Grout's waited a long time for a child. And on December 27th, 1990, Pam and David's 10th anniversary, Michael was born. Michael was adopted by Pam and David, and was in their loving arms two days later.

Born in Texas, Michael is of American/Mexican descent. Some of David and Pam's childhood, studies, and passions reflect Michael's rich heritage.

This Valentine's Day is a holiday that means more than simply exchanging candy and cards. It is a time for us, like the Grout's, to exchange our love.
