Wilmore's Old-Fashioned Musical Christmas

As this month opens up we begin to anxiously anticipate the carols, hot-chocolate, scents of pine and gifts under the tree. Keeping with Wilmore's Christmas heritage, on December 5th, resi-dents will gather together for a night of renewing and strengthening friendships while enjoying the traditions of this season.

Throughout this period of celebration, the residents of Wilmore never seem to forget that Christmas is a time of giving rather than receiving. This year at the annual Old-Fashioned Musical Christmas, residents have more chances to make Christmas a special time for others. Among the Tree-Lighting ceremony, music, and food, many new traditions are forming for this year's holiday.

One addition to this year's festivities is happening with the Christmas angels. Although Wilmore's angels have been lining Main Street for many past Christmases, now you can purchase one in memory or in honor of a person or family. A plaque will be placed underneath the angel with the dedication you have chosen. Buy purchasing an angel, you are making Christmas a special time of remembering or honoring a loved-one and you are helping keep Wilmore's tradition of angels alive. The last day to place a memorial is December 3.

At this season's Christmas celebration, we are better able to remember those less fortunate in Wilmore. New this year is a toy drive for children in the area. Toys can be purchased by any resident and be brought to the sleigh at the Tree-Lighting on December 5. They will then be distributed to children who are not able to have gifts this Christmas. Donated presents are up to your own price discretion and may be brought to the Community Center earlier in the week, if you choose.

Wilmore's festivities provide many chances to share the joys of Christmas with others. As this year's Old-Fashioned Christmas comes closer to us, take some time to get involved with some of the new traditions forming this year, like the angel memorials or the toy drive. Remember to consider how the season could be better enjoyed by family, friends and even those who are unknown to us.
