First Ladies of Jessamine, their recipes, their histories, their homes&emdash;a book about Jessamine's 200 years goes on sale Friday, November 28. Histories of the first ladies of Wilmore Mayors Harold Rainwater, Joseph Thacker, Z.T. Johnson, H.B. Sims, Charlie Metcalf, W.D. Turkington, A.A. Stewart, and J.S. Gaugh with pictures of their homes and their family's favorite foods are included.

Nicholasville Mayors' first ladies from J.S. Bronaugh to Sam Corman, as well as ten of Jessamine County Judge's wives from William Neal Cassity back to Tucker Woodson (born at Chaumiere du Prairie), along with other notable "firsts", complete the 100-page, 50 picture book written by Elexene Cox. The book, priced at $15, is available at Wilmore City Hall, and at the Coach Light Antique Mall and Jessamine Bicentennial Headquarters at 219 North Main Street in Nicholasville.

Elexene Cox and Ben Brown are co-chairpersons of the BIG YEAR LONG CELEBRATION beginning Saturday, January 3, 8 p.m. at East Jessamine High School with the Gala Bicentennial Ball (Tickets are $15 and are available at the Bicentennial Headquarters or at the Court House.) Dress in historic ball costumes is optional. Souvenir pottery, books, ball gowns, tuxedos, and costumes are on sale each weekend at 219 North Main Street in Nicholasville.
