Kenny Hall is one of our part-time officers. He has worked for the City since May 1988, when he began working under Police Chief Roger Swallows. Prior to working for our police department, Kenny had police experience working for Sheriff Bill Hager on a part-time basis for 3 years starting in 1982. A Jessamine County native, Kenny grew up on the east side of the county.
Kenny's full time job has been working for Pepsi-Cola since 1975. He has been driving for Pepsi his entire career. A few years ago, Wilmore was included on his route. Not only did he work in the City on weekends for the police department, he was in town once a week delivering Pepsi products.
Kenny likes working for the police department best because he has the opportunity to interact with people. He said he loves to work with people. Kenny has commented that the vast majority of those he comes into contact with in Wilmore are good people. That's why it is so enjoyable working in Wilmore.
Kenny was asked the funniest thing that has happened to him as a police officer. He said that when working with Sheriff Deputy JD Wells, they were attempting to arrest a woman who was eluding them on an arrest warrant. Deputy Wells asked Kenny to wear his Pepsi uniform in order to conceal his identity as a police officer. In the process of looking for the woman, they were dispatched to an accident on Halls Road. At the accident scene it became evident that one of the drivers had been drinking. Kenny, in his Pepsi uniform, conducted some field sobriety tests on one of the drivers. He failed all of the tests given. Kenny thought that he would run one more. He pointed to his "Pepsi" patch on his uniform and asked, "What does this say?" The man said, "P-o-l-i-c-e." He was promptly arrested and taken to jail.
We thank Kenny for his dedication and commitment to the citizens and to the City of Wilmore. Often times Kenny will work weekends for the police department which are his days off at Pepsi. There are occasions he will work two to three weeks without a day off. Kenny, as other officers are, is required to attend 40 hours of training at the police academy every year. He does this on his personal vacation time from Pepsi.
Kenny is married to his wife Connie. They have two daughters and five grandchildren.
