Sarah Goepper

While our high school seniors have graduated now and that seems like old hat, this month Wilmore would like to recognize East Jessamine Co. H.S. senior, Sarah Goepper. She is the daughter of Linda and Todd Goepper and older sister to Laura and Marylee. Sarah is a bright and pretty young lady who is a talented musician. Sarah will be attending Tennessee Technological University in Cookeville this fall.

Sarah has been playing the piano since she was seven years old. She has been playing the flute since sixth grade and also enjoys playing the piccolo. In her junior and senior years she was First Chair Flute. While Sarah fills the air with music her academic qualities shine as well. Sarah was on All "A" honor roll her Jr. year and All "A-B" honor roll her senior year. She graduated with honors. Sarah also received the Nicholasville Rotary Club, "T.C. Yearwood Music Scholarship".

Sarah's list of achievements do not fall short and perhaps she follows her grandfather’s footsteps with her musical talents. Mr. Albert Goepper attended Julliard. He played during the Big Band Era and played for the Army Band in Washington D.C. for 33 years. In 1997 Sarah was the "Most Outstanding" musician in the West Jessamine H.S. Band. Also in 1997 Sarah received a Music Merit Award from her piano teacher, Debbie Engler. For the past year and a half Sarah has been a volunteer at the Thompson-Hood Veterans Center where she played piano at the chapel services.

Sarah was vice president of her class her junior year at West Jesamine H.S. and also vice president of her class her senior year at East Jessamine H.S. In 1997 she was elected for the Homecoming Court and in 1998 elected for the Prom Court. In 1997 she was selected for Youth Salute. She was in the National Honor Society too.

Sarah also starts college with a piano scholarship from Tennessee Tech. Sarah would like to major in Music Therapy. Through research on the internet, Sarah found "The Academic Common Market". This is a consortium of fourteen southern state schools offering reciprocal programs. Because music therapy is not offered in Kentucky, through this program Sarah's parents are able to enroll Sarah as an in-state student not paying out of state tuition. This is a big savings to their family and tip for others to research.

Sit down at the piano, just about in the middle, put your fingers on the notes any where you want to, sing along, write a song and understand that you can play. We wish you continued success, Sarah. You make your family very proud and we will talk about you while you are at college because we will want to know how you are doing!! Have fun, study hard and blessings to you in your future
